They started out as a studio band in March 2002 and within a few weeks, created the songs Sugarcane Napkin and She Finds You. After getting some attention and well-deserved airplay the founding members-Marc, Mikel and Dalton, decided to turn it into a four piece live act, with Dexter. Later on, they added Tristan to solve the problem of guitar layering in their recording sessions. This is how The Significant Others was formed, and how their distinct sound, a mix of power pop and grunge, came to be.
