Story behind the song
The title is taken from Gabriel Garcia Marquez's "A very old man with enormous wings," which in its simplest state is a story about being discriminated against because of your appearance. The song also carries a mystical quality which is prevelent in all of Marquez's work. Last, the song is greatly inspired by the Beatles, namely "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds."
