Never give up on love.
Artist picture
I write all kinds of music from gospel to country, comedy to childrens songs as well as instrumentals. I play guitar (acoustic and lead) and sing with a count
I was born in the mid 1950's, and began playing guitar when I was 14 years old. I have played with many of the early (70's & 80's)country singers. I wrote my first song when I was 15 and now have over 120, from gospel to country. I love the challenge of writing a song that people can relate to, yet to say it in a brand new way. I play with a local group called Common Bond and jam whenever I can find some others pickers.

Story behind the song
I'm sure most married couples go thru a down-time in your love for one another. This song shows how the little things in life can mean so much to a marriage. Don't ever give up on love.
Lyrics
We had reached a point in marriage, we were no longer friends, What's the use in trying, it seemed as if we'd reached the end. I thought I'd make one final effort, before our love was dead and gone, So I stopped and bought her flowers, just to see how she'd respond. Chorus I just thought that it was over, I hadn't counted on this. When I handed her those roses, I forgot how good she kissed. She wrapped her loving arms around me, then showed me love I thought had died, I just thought that it was over, But thank God our love is still alive. As she placed those flowers in a vase, I saw a tear roll down her face, So I touched her cheek, to wipe the tears away. She said there's something you should know, You see I'd planned to leave tomorrow, Unless the Lord showed me a miracle today. Lyrics and music: Doug York (c) 2006
