It has been my pleasure to have jammed, gigged and recorded with many great bands and musicians over the years. This site will represent a sampling of those taped encounters. Be gentle.

Story behind the song
We (the Shags) somehow won the 1967 Battle of the Bands contest. The prize was a recording session at the famed Don Sears recording studion in Omaha. We were told by the judges that we only had 2 hours of recording time, so we practiced like mad so we could get the 2 sides cut in less than 2hrs. When we showed up for the session, we learned that we had all the time we wanted to recorded the songs. Of course were were very young and inexperienced and could have spent 2 years and it wouldn't have sounded any better. It was a fun time though. A couple of weeks after the session, our acetate and a mixed 2 trk tape arrived by mail. We thought we were going to be stars so we had a couple hundred 45's made and sold them to anybody that would buy them. I think we gave most of them to our parents, and the rest are in boxes in a garage somewhere. The band consisted of Larry Schlines(guitar and vocal), TommyEarl (drums), Roger, Rocky the Squirrel Tryon (farfisa), John, wooden fingers Primm (bass), and Mark the little brother Renfro on backing vocals.
