Yousi with sunshine in her hair
A refreshing song about letting go of the past and welcoming new beginings!
Story behind the song
My good friend Yousi came over and demanded i play her a song on my guitar. I fiddled around with some chord progressions and Yousi put down some lyrics, and before you know it, A SONG!
Next day we recorded it and PRESTO!
Lyrics
She smiles when she looks at me
As she blows smoke rings in the dark
She talks of old lovers
And old flames
Flickering away
Flickering away
And as the cup of tea in her hand
Grows cold by the fire
And the moon sets to sun
The memories rush
Before they fade away
Fade away (hey)
O’ Yousi,
Can’t you see
That the sun washes over your face
Dawn breaks in silence
As the light paves the way
As the light paves the way
The leaves fall to the ground
Golden, red, and brown
One catches in her hair
As the other falls to the ground
And I show her how cruel life can be
“Look here, my dear”
As I pull this from her hair
Like an apple from a tree
Golden brown
Golden brown
Tumbling down
Tumbling down
O’ Yousi,
Can’t you see
That the sun washes over your face
Dawn breaks in silence
As the light paves the way
As the light paves the way
“Look there, my dear”
The sun plays across our faces
Autumn falls all around
Tumbling down
Tumbling down
O’ Yousi,
Can’t you see
That the sun washes over your face
Dawn breaks in silence
As the light paves the way
O’ Yousi,
Can’t you see
That the sun washes over your face
Dawn breaks in silence
As the light paves the way
As the light paves the way
