Story behind the song
Here in France we have what is called a "coup de foudre" romantically. We call it "love at first sight" in America. I wrote this song trying to win a girl after being struck by a "coup de foudre" because of her great beauty and wonderful personality. Unfortunately it only struck me, and missed her entirely! Regrettable, but that is how it happens sometimes.
Lyrics
DELPHINE copyright 1995 by Victor Compton Delphine, Delphine.....Well, I don't know what to do Delphine, Delphine.....'cause when I look at you Delphine, Delphine.....My feelings overflow I spend my time pretending, so you will never know, Delphine. Delphine, Delphine.....I'd like to make you mine Delphine, Delphine.....I'm lookin' for a sign Delphine, Delphine.....You're better than the Best I haven't been so nervous since my last arrest, Delphine. They say I should resist you, but no one makes a pill The say I should forget you, but you know I never will, Delphine. I didn't know what Beauty was, until I saw your face But everytime that I approach, you put me in my place. Delphine, Delphine.....Why do you hesitate? Delphine, Delphine.....I'm knockin' at your gate Delphine, Delphine.....I'm askin' you again Open up your heart, and let the message in, Delphine.
