One man recording the cobwebs of his mind; Shall we listen in?
One man singer-songwriter musician. Included here are songs written as far back as the late seventies, up to and including the present day. Four of the songs were recorded in the late 90's and make up an EP called Skies. Other albums include A Man Alone from 2002, and The World At Large from 2005. Since then, songs have been released singly as they've been completed. A new album is now available - Tales Of Love And Defiance (talesofloveanddefiance.com)

Story behind the song
This song is dedicated to the memory of Laura Sadler (1980-2003), an actress who fell 40ft. from her boyfriend's balcony in London. Laura held on for three days, until the doctors told her mother that there was no hope. Permission was given to withdraw life support, and Laura passed away a day later. When I heard the news that she was gone (it was a big story in the UK), I pictured her mother, waiting beside the bed for the eventual outcome, and this song literally forced its way out of my head. Based on a nursery rhyme, 'Silent Lullaby' features piano, and a string quartet. The string parts took several weeks to write and arrange. Recorded on the 788. New (Oct. 2018) - Fourteen years after its initial release, 'Silent Lullaby' has been updated. Due to advances in recording technology unavailable to me originally, I've been able to go back and replace the string sounds with more realistic versions (using the original score). I've also autotuned the vocal and fixed some little timing issues here and there with the backing tracks. The whole song has also been completely remixed, resulting in a much better version that I hope finally does the material a little more justice.
Lyrics
How long has it been since I held your hand in mine I'd be watching over you And everything was fine Do you remember all the nights I'd tuck you into bed? Sing a little song to you or a fairy tale instead And now it doesn't matter if you remember them or not I'll do it for the both of us memories are all I've got Now it's time to lay you down to sleep I pray your thoughts are happy ones your soul will safely keep Now it's time to say goodnight to you I'll leave a kiss upon your cheek that says I love you too Here we are again with your hand held in mine I'm still watching over you like everything was fine I do remember watching you drift into your dreams Hugging on a teddy bear lit up by pale moonbeams And what I wouldn't give for moonbeams once again Now I sit and hold the bear cause I'm his lonely friend Now it's time to lay you down to sleep I pray your thoughts are happy ones your soul will safely keep Now it's time to say goodnight to you I'll leave a kiss upon your cheek that says I love you too Someday when you wake up I hope to be there too Till then, I'll be waiting that's all that I can do Now it's time to lay you down to sleep I pray your thoughts are happy ones your soul will safely keep Now it's time to say goodnight to you I'll leave a kiss upon your cheek that says I love you too I'll leave a kiss upon your cheek that says I love you too
