Chris Jay Becker is an American singer-songwriter whose music has been compared to Lou Reed, Bob Dylan, Townes Van Zandt and Johnny Cash.
I'm Chris Jay Becker. I'm a singer-songwriter and guitar-thumper with the occasional foray into mandolin, blues harp, and slide guitar. My songs mix rock, country, folk, the blues, and gospel. You could call it Alternative Country, Acoustic Rock, or Roots Rock. Think John Mellencamp, Steve Earle, or acoustic Springsteen. I hope you like these songs. They're lo-fi acoustic demos, but I think they're pretty good songs.lke

Story behind the song
This song is about my father, a very sweet but very weak man. He literally kicked me out at age 10 because my stepmother told him to do so. Years later, after he'd had a stroke, he often referred to her as his "mother" and me as his "baby brother."
Lyrics
DADDY DEAREST I. Daddy dearest, though you're gone, I barely have the strength to carry on Daddy dearest, understand, you never taught me how to be a man 'Cause you didn't know you didn't know you didn't know yourself No, you didn't know you didn't know you didn't know yourself I'm all dressed up in my grown-up clothes all dressed up with no place to go II. You kicked me out when I was ten, I never really knew just what I did I was a scared child, that is true, but I only wanted to be like you, 'Cause you didn't know you didn't know you didn't know yourself No, you didn't know you didn't know you didn't know yourself I'm all dressed up in my parent clothes all dressed up with no place to go
