Story behind the song
mark, john, (sometimes bjC the funky sax-playin' dentist) & i used to jam in the basement during the few years when we had all migrated from Syracuse to Connecticut... we'd improv for hours to some ADAT tape. Some really fine segments developed which I then edit into quasi-coherent loops and attempt to craft polished songs. Some tracks that developed from these improv sessions: "Fusion Jelly (1&2)", "Costello Caravan", "Jazz Dentist", and this one which shows the true musical genious of one John Bates: mad high school science teacher who is a natural player... would make Jaco proud. The guy can go months at a time without playing then pick up his bass and rip off mind-blowing lines like you hear in this track.... Bassman Bates Is indeed In Tha Howse, boyeee. -=peace+light=- lanceKC
