Lyrics
lemme introduce Sue, a girl still young in her teens/
people always saw her different, even some what extreme/
cuz there's a number of things that sorta set her apart/
sue kept her nose in books, seemed so clever and smart/
she dressed messy and dark, liked heavy metal and art/
so kids judged only her by her rep instead of her heart/
yo she's feeling like a square among a circle of friends/
cuz she couldnt tell someone about the hurting within/
from the personal things, like all them problems at home/
its sad to say, all the pain, keeps rotting her soul/
feeling hollow and cold, she lost all of her hope/
no one to call on the phone, to try to talk to who knows/
what its like to cry at night and have to swallow the whole/
...lump of dispair thats still caught in her throat/
and half the kids would only glare at the purple colored hair/
the other half would only think it wasnt worth to love and care/
some gave hurtful little stares that would chip away her pride/
so she hid away the pain, and tried to take it all in stride/
she lived day to day in life feeling kinda like a ghost/
opened up her diary, always crying as she wrote/
her tears would dot her i's, she was trying to control/
her emotions and her thoughts from slowly dying in her soul/
shut her eyes and kept em closed, sleeping was her escape/
she dreaded every morning's lonely feeling when she wakes/
but wait... lemme take a moment, to tell another story/
about a boy, almost a man, guess we'll call him cory/
cory was the type of guy who had everything in life/
followed rules, stayed in school, everything he did was right/
he was captain of the team not to mention class president/
cory's going places and that was way past evident/
he had the grades, had the girl, some say he's overzealous/
the kinda kid parents saw and right away ya know were jealous/
but little did they know that every smile he gave was forced/
lived a predetermined track, as time would take its course/
despite the popularity, and the respect of all his peers/
his paradise in life wasnt just as it appeared/
cory's covered by the fear that he just wasnt good enough/
and that he's all alone, so he fronts like hes lookn tough/
but underneath that mask of his, you can see that he actually is/
saddened at the core cuz no ones is really asking him/
how has he exactly been, they all assume he's perfect/
they didnt know down inside hes really feeling worthless/
cuz no accolade or trophy could listen to his problems/
so its on this slippery slope he's continually falling/
he'd go to bed every night, just staring at his ceiling/
...trying to ignore everything that he's feeling/
shut his eyes and kept em closed, sleeping was the escape/
he dreaded every morning's lonely feelings when he wakes/
but theres a lil some'n more thats new to the story/
see... our miss lady sue also knew mister cory/
but they never talked, never speakn of their hurts/
even though they saw each other every weekend at their church/
instead they went along just pretending they were fine/
but when all is said and done, in the end they were lying/
but still there's a question that needs to be said/
how come the church didnt reach out to them?/
if sue is our sister and cory is our brother
how come the church didnt reach out to them?/
this is for the people that secretly suffer
how come the church didnt reach out to them?/
if sue is our sister and cory is our brother
how come the church didnt reach out to them?/
this is for the people that secretly suffer
how come the church didnt reach out to them?/
"how come we the church didnt reach out to them?" (repeat)
