For my 3-part counterpoint class. Uses motivic development techniques common to the 18th century, but in a contemporary context.
Contemporary art music composer, mostly vocal and chamber ensemble music.
I'm a composer at Oberlin College. I write contemporary art music, mostly vocal pieces, and works for chamber ensemble. My vocal works tend toward virtuosity in their ranges, and all my music is very conscious of the counterpoint and blend of melodies into harmonic movement.

Story behind the song
999 light bulbs refers to the fact that Thomas Edison reputedly created 999 failed versions of the electric light before finally inventing one that worked. This is an invention, the electric light was an invention - you see, it ties in. If you put yourself in the right frame of mind, you can sort of hear the story, though the piece was not written to be programmatic.
