Story behind the song
I have always loved this hymn - especially the last verse. In a particularly dark time of my life - when I felt i had lost my salvation - the last verse was such a comfort: that regardless of whether I see your face in heaven, Christ - still be my vision. I have always felt that this hymn is so very beautiful - melody, language. When Yvonne Bach launched the Hymn Challenge on CSN http://christiansongwriters.org/forum/index.php I felt called to carefully rewrite it - holding to the original passion - rewording it precisely so the message could be identified with by more people now yet the melody and rhythm and stress are the same. Kevin King at http://www.blind-dog-audio.com/ composed the beautiful melody for the added chorus and worked hard on rewording my awkward language to make this part of the song stronger. He is very talented - a pleasure to work with! I would love hear that this hymn is sung with these new words. Please let me know if you are interested - simply so I can see if, indeed God did call me to do this. Perhaps you are the reason for the call. May God be glorified. Dodes
