Story behind the song
It's a warning about breaking hearts.
Lyrics
Signs and Cycle (Ed Rhoades) Don’t the signs and the cycles always come to this? Did the road I see lead this way before? Can you read my eyes and understand the risk? Am I a fool to open the door? When I think of all that happens in the name called love I recall getting up from the door One too many times to think it’s just a joke Where no one gets hurt anymore Walk softly in the evening Walk proud in the sun Grow your plants and write those secret lines And if you need a reason, I can give you none But watch where you step please this time. Take that lonely walk through the garden one more time And try to think it through for me I wish we could talk ‘cause each moment has its time And it’s gone forever and it’s free Now, you don’t seem to notice exactly where you are And you never say goodbye when you go It’s like your thoughts are out there somewhere on a star And the speed of love is slow Walk softly in the evening Walk proud in the sun Grow your plants and write those secret lines And if you need a reason, I can give you none But watch where you step please this time.
