Robert Service, wrote these lyrics back around 1900. The music is a big mess I created and imposed over Mr. Service’s fine words.

Story behind the song
On a Friday night, in the summer, I got home from work and my wife had made some plans for us to go out to some friends house. As a coincidence , I got in the mail that day a Captain Beefheart DVD. So I sort of snuck around to the small TV and started watching the DVD while I could. Pretty soon we had to leave though, so I told my wife that I needed a bit more time and would “meet her in about an hour, if that’s OK”. She didn’t mind & she left, I then had a couple drinks, and watched more of the Beefheart DVD. After an hour I had to get ready to leave, but having a few drinks in me I really needed to wait just a little bit, so I went into my studio and recorded this drum part, drunken, Beefheart influenced, very wild and wooly. A few days later I sang the lyrics and did the bass and guitar part (pretty much made up on the spot). It’s an interesting song, isn’t it!
