Traditional cowboy song from 1870’s-ish?? Woody Guthrie sang this song too, he did it fast and good. My own version is a bit slow and sappy – Enjoy!

Story behind the song
Sometimes I get lazy and decide to record a song without writing anything beforehand. I just record a bunch of parts, try to edit it a bit, and then force some kind of vocal section onto it. Sometimes this works well, other times I really make a stinky turd. Anyhoo, with this song – I actually wrote parts and stuff! That’s right, I figured out the chords and sections, and practiced a little with the vocals. So when it came time to press the record button, I knew what to play. This song came out nice too as a sad – boohoo -ballad, so I felt good about it, I did my “songwriters duty” on this one – I didn’t fake it. I never even heard the actual version when this song was put together, but about a month later I saw a Woody Guthrie documentary on PBS. He was playing this song - well not really. He was singing A Song with these lyrics (the correct way it’s supposed to be done I guess). It was a lot faster and wild and wooly. I had to laugh when I heard it, and said to myself “well I really got that one wrong didn’t I”.
