Story behind the song
Well, this one was... interesting. I started it around mid-October, and somehow it found its way into the music I took with me when we evacuated just before the fire. I finished it on December 8, after we'd found a temporary residence and bought a keyboard to practice on. The story behind this one is long, and I don't care to recount it here; suffice it to say I was very upset, and it came out in this slightly deranged piece. (Perhaps not so deranged when compared to my first five, but there's definite tension in the song that was pretty much a reflection of me at the time.) I opted to submit the experimental MP3 with string accompaniment instead of the straight solo piano; some of the timing is off on the strings, but they deepen the song, and it sounded *so much better*. I had planned to flesh out the accompaniment a bit more, but it sounds isolated and... well, alone now.
