Story behind the song
Inspired by my youngest, my daughter. We did go for a walk and she did point out the man in the moon. The rest of the lyric followed.
Lyrics
RE-WRITE of the original lyric. Man-In-The-Moon (07/02/01) (V) Went for a short walk my youngest and I. Down at the park near our home. We had to stop, to look and to spy. Each path we had to roam. A flat rock was a prize, a keepsake it seemed, a treasure like a balloon. I saw a snail, a kid with a pail and I saw the man-in-the-moon. (C) With my little one riding my shoulders. I saw the world through her eyes. Birds in the trees, quick buzzin bees, fluffy white clouds in the sky. It seems that I might have forgotten. Been stuck in my man made cocoon. Cause I saw a cat, a kid with a bat and I saw the man-in- the- moon again. I saw the man-in-the-moon. (V) Our short walk was one of our longest. Each fence passed needed a peak. Heard a dog bark, it soon would be dark. Played a short game of hide- and -go- seek. A tree brought a halt to our present game, this one housed a raccoon. Saw some more bugs, received a bear hug and saw the man-in-the-moon. (Chorus) Copyright 2009 by Douglas Murphy
