A diversion from Rock, a twist from Jazz, a flick from Folk & a touch of class is the way we see towards & describe our music. Manthan have a unique blend of various music cultures since we believe in experimenting & not categorizing music just to one stream or genre. Manthan creates music that appeals to one & all. As Manthan, we do not want to confine ourselves to one specific territory of music but to broaden our horizons. We find music as a state of mind & that's how we define our music. It's a source of unwinding then creating our unique identity as a group & as an individual. Music is an experiment & journey for Manthan & we have set out to be an original band & to bring up our brand of music, which would not be confined to barriers & languages. Manthan is not merely mixing western instruments with Indian but actually combining the two without tampering the feel & hurting the soul of it. First of its kind in India. The band which focuses on Indus Melodic Music. The band which wants to stick to its roots, reach out the masses & create a difference. Our music is not the regular rock or metal or grunge or may be psychedelic. Manthan focuses on a strong melody line & try to keep their music as simple as possible so that everyone & anyone can relate to it. Our USP is that we do not have any language barrier for our music. Manthan is comfortable playing Hindi, Punjabi or even Urdu when it comes to pass the message we are trying to convey. Manthan’s entire focus is on the simplicity of music, as we say “Anyone can do complicated stuff but simple things are tough to do”. The band came into existence on March 11th 2006. Vikrant was with Every Mother's Nightmare, Guitarist Ish was with 100 Octane, Bassist Nick belonged to Psykik Volts & Drummer & Percussionist Vishal is new kid on the block. "New born Manthan is trying to make another statement as it is singing rock in the language of the masses - Hindi even as Urdu-Hindi Pakistani rock bands invade the trite Indi-pop segment by the day. Manthan’s original composition “Aukaat main reh ke bol” has been a major hit in Delhi’s rock circuit already. It was just through a song, Manthan sung in support of the striking doctors at the AIIMS campus on Monday. But it says a lot about the band Manthan that knows how to send its message across through music. Through this song, we are trying to tell the policy makers to look at the situation from other people's perspective. Manthan is currently working with the Sufi poetry of Amir Khusro and Bulle Shah, among others. And while they have a reggae-tinged rendition of “Nit Kher Manga” and a rap version of ”Chhap Tilak Sab Chhini”, they also have “Machli”, a fun-filled song on college life and “Siskiyan”, bordering on mid-life crisis. The play list also includes “Mahi” a devotional love song.
