All Along The Watchtower (Live at The Sandpiper)
Recorded on a cheap portable tape recorder at The Sandpiper. Lead guitar & vocals by Bob. With the express permission of the other Bob.
Lovely
Stuff that was too out-there to go elsewhere, but which still needed to go out there.
Got it?
Story behind the song
A one off gig at The Sandpiper in Ayr, circa 1982, by the almost legendary teen band 'Men In White Suits'.
Lead guitar & vocals by Bob. Rhythm guitar by Mr Smunt.
Aura & violin by Commander Jed. Dancing and BV's by Randy Mandy and Traffic.
Despite the quality of the recording, you can still hear the audience start to pay more attention to the band than their coffee cups as the legendary Bob shows us why he nearly made it and we didn't.
Lyrics
The old codger's right:
"I don't know anybody who's made a record that sounds decent in the past 20 years, really," the 65-year-old rocker said in an interview with Rolling Stone magazine.
Noting the music industry's complaints that illegal downloading means people are getting their music for free, he said, "Well, why not? It ain't worth nothing anyway. You listen to these modern records, they're atrocious, they have sound all over them," he added. "There's no definition of nothing, no vocal, no nothing, just like ... static."
