Story behind the song
I actually wrote this in the 70's, and it was on the first recording I ever did in a studio.
Lyrics
I might be going crazy ‘cause I don’t understand I’ve been thinking a lot And forgetting a lot about knowing where I stand (I might be getting Lazy ‘cause I won’t Lift a hand I Follow my nose and I think that it shows I just don’t have a plan I Walk down by the river And I watch the water shine And I wish that it were mine to Carry homeYou there, you’re a giver I see it in your eyes A river any size could be your home I won’t be getting younger I guess I’ll never know If I’m sailing behind The dreams in my mind The wind just doesn’t blow 2I’m thinking of the hunger That forces me to go Down to the shore With never much more Than a sorry look to show (chorus) I might be getting older Cause I could never see I’ve been singing a lot and I guess I forgot You were listening to me The days are getting colder, I’ll need you next to me And as the river flows, well I suppose we’ll take it out to sea (chorus)
