This a song that I wrote at the end of spring of 1990...It's a lament to the end of the 'season of love.' And a welcome to summer.

Artist picture
New/Old school Folk/Rock artist with a flair for poignant melodies and meaningful lyrics.
Thomas Palminteri is a singer/songwriter, composer with a subtle and varied gift for lyrics and melody in the tradition of Paul Simon and Randy Newman. He has written both songs that tell a story such as ïSpring Has Goneï and Waiting for the No.12 and composed instrumental music such as ïJourney to the Black Madonnaï the enigmatic Mass in C that defy categorization. In his teenage years he developed a strong appreciation for Rock music beginning with The Beatles and later became enamored with the more eclectic groups of his adolescence such as the Talking Heads and Elvis Costello. Later in college when he decided to study music more formally Tom became deeply affected by Classical and Jazzï particularly J.S. Bach, Mozart, Faure and Debussy.

Story behind the song
It was the first song written for my Junior recital at Purchase. It is the opening of the song cycle "Circus Town" ( Ten Songs about leaving and coming home ) It ended up being one of my best songs..I think because I had to come up with something for that recital.
Lyrics
Spring has gone and those days are gone, well the years are long but spring is not so long for me. Well I throw a stone into these waves and I say goodbye to the season I craved. And I wish that I had more faith that there’d be better days but something’s brought me down don’t know if I could stick around anymore, it’s time to leave this town Spring has come and gone again like you my long lost friends yes spring has come and gone again. And the skies turn blue again. Oh yes they do again and again... Well these summer sands to me they look just fine but still we waited so long for the season we left behind. As I look to the futures face can there be some other places? I’ve dwelt on years gone by Guess it’s time to say goodbye this time, to the season of love. Spring has come and gone again like you my long lost friends yes spring has come and gone again. And the skies turn blue again. Oh yes they do again and again... Spring has gone….
