tabitha hides in the doorway
from the howling voices downstairs
she don't know what they mean, but they make her uneasy
she's hopefully waiting to help
quietly walks back to the bedroom
trying to find comfort to share
wishing and reaching for tinkerbell's hand
to lead her from mum and from dad
listening and waiting for footsteps
hoping that quiet comes soon
pretending to sleep, she tries not to weep
wouldn't want them knowing the truth
pain isn't much of a lesson
nobody learned from last week
hopes as she dreams her worries might cease
away from the secret she keeps
nobody thought it could happen
sometimes we suffer alone
when noone can see, some yearn to be
safe from the comforts of home
