Story behind the song
I used various literature refrences from a political science course I took and mixed it in with a few others to express my feelings.
Lyrics
My Reality December 28th, 2005 I never wanted it to go this way, But the prince says fortune flows like a river, And who can argue with royalty. I wish I could go against my feelings, But this monster rules over my nature. I fear that I’m no David, And if I were, I’ve lost my sling. I’m tired of heartache, False promises, Of bitter sweetness. Please just let me sleep, Lose my reality. I wonder what really drives me to the edge. Is it easy to see from the heavenly city? I sorry, but I’ve lost my way. I know I’ll never find my faith. Even a saint has to be lost before he’s found. I know that I’ll never preach. And if I did, no one would listen. I’m tired of heartache False promises, Of bitter sweetness. Please just let me sleep, Lose my reality. They said that life was a fairytale, But I’ve skipped ahead and read the end, And I don’t like what I see. Do I have the strength to change it now? Or will I destroy what’s already there? I’m no visionary, And if I were, I fear I’m blind. I’m so tired of these books, Tired of these lies, Of selfish sacrifice. Can’t you let me sleep? Lose my reality.
