Story behind the song
Again a blast from my past and one of my earlier songs. (You can easily tell by just reading the lyrics.) Like Mary Lou this one took off after being arranged by Alex Tarczy. Country? Well ok.
Lyrics
Why Are You Acting This Way? (Words by Douglas Murphy / Music by Douglas Murphy & Alex Tarczy) (C) Why are you acting this way? Why don’t you want me to stay? I tried to do what was right. But all you do when I come home is give me a fight. (V) We’ve been together for such a long time. What’s mine is yours and yours is mine. And that situation was working out fine. But as the days go by I feel in my mind that I’m wasting my time. (V) We don’t talk like we use to do. So just come out and tell that there’s somebody new. I can’t go on if you keep acting this way. So make up your mind, give me a sign if you don’t want me to stay. (Chorus) (V) Lets get together and change what went wrong. Lets not throw our life away like some old love song. Lets just sit down and we’ll talk it out. If we don’t clear it up I’ll pack up my things and get on out of this house. (V) Well I looked at my watch and it was half past ten. The talk we had it cleared things up and we’re still friends. I still don’t know why she was acting that way. But its over now, the trouble’s gone and I’m here to stay.
