What you see here is a collection of original songs as well as a few covers.
a one man show
Hi. My name is Douglas Murphy and I hale from Montreal Quebec Canada.
I have been playing around this 'craft' for a while now and have always enjoyed getting my 'stuff' out there.
Lately I have been playing around with AI generated vocals and melodies. I hope you enjoy what I have to offer.
Story behind the song
Back in the 80's Mary Lou found me. Back then as now I had the tendency to write and sing in a certain style. I then met Alex Tarczy. It was his ideas and his creative mind that shape this lyric to this result. Even now, these years later, I still enjoy the trip.
Lyrics
Mary Lou
(Words by Douglas Murphy / Music by Douglas Murphy and Alex Tarczy)
(V)
Headin’ down town on a Saturday night.
Feelin’ real loose, feelin’ just right.
When I saw me a women who looked out of sight.
I pulled up at the corner, she got in at the light.
(V)
I said, “Where ever you’re going, I’m going too.”
She said, “That’s alright I’ll go with you.”
I said, “My name is Tom. How do you do?”
She said, “Hello Tom my name is Mary Lou.”
(C)
Me and Mary Lou had a good time.
Dancin’ and drinkin’ on that Saturday night.
Whoever thought that she would be mine?
That good looking’ women who got in at the light?
Me and Mary Lou had a good time.
Singing and laughing and painting the town.
And every place we went to,
me and Mary Lou we closed that place down.
(V)
We were rockin’ and rollin’ to an old fifty’s band.
When she reached over and took my hand.
The look in her eyes made me understand.
She wanted no other to be her man. (Chorus)
(V)
I said, “Mary Lou do I understand?”
“You want me to be your man?”
She said, “Yes. I do and yes you can.”
“For the rest of the evening lets change our plans.” (Chorus)
(V)
I was headin’ down town on a Saturday night.
Feelin’ real loose, feelin’ just right.
Well I met me a woman who was out of sight.
And me and Mary Lou had one hell of a night.
