Singer-Songwriter from New Hampshire
I'm a singer-songwriter from New Hampshire. My desire is to write songs about real life and tell stories. I hope above all else that God is seen and glorified by my simple expressions of music and the opening of my heart.

Story behind the song
I had a bunch of conversations in a 2 week period that spurned the writing of this song. Each person needed God to protect them in someway and I think I finally got what it means to take shelter in the Lord.
Lyrics
Shelter of Your Wings By Lonnie Crampsey With a blackened eye and a fattened lip And her head hanging low over coffee There's a quivering tone and a tear on her cheek While she says, "why does he have to hit me?" And she never can remember, ever feeling so alone (Chorus)I wish I could fly away from here And be free from all this pain I wish I could let my spirit soar To a place I've never been When I'm battered and I'm weakened Lord I pray You'll be my strength Well it feels like your my only friend So I will hide, In the shelter of your wings He placed a handful of droopy red roses Near a grave by the row of pine trees It was his wife of some 30 plus years And He wondered why she had to leave And he never can remember ever feeling so alone (Chorus)I wish I could fly away from here and be free from all this pain I wish I could let my spirit soar to a place I've never been When I'm saddened and defeated, Lord, I pray You'll be my strength Well it feels like your my only friend So I will hide, In the shelter of your wings He didn't come to take the trouble out of this life He never promised that we'd be free from all this pain But he gives to us the grace and peace that passes our understanding, our understanding So I reach for that book on the shelf and I notice it's dusty array Lord I know I can be so complacent And I know you can't like me that way And I realize that I'm the reason that I feel so all alone So I will just fly away from here and I'll contemplate this pain I will just let my spirit soar to a place I've seldom been When I'm stale and inconsistent, Lord I pray you'll be my strength Well it feels like youre my only friend so I will hide When I'm stale and inconsistent, Lord I pray you'll be my strength Well it feels like youre my only friend so I will hide In the shelter of your wings
