Putting Myself in the shoes of the woman caught in adultery
Singer-Songwriter from New Hampshire
I'm a singer-songwriter from New Hampshire. My desire is to write songs about real life and tell stories. I hope above all else that God is seen and glorified by my simple expressions of music and the opening of my heart.
Story behind the song
This story has long since fascinated me for a couple of reasons. First of all, I can't hear this and not think of how I act just like the Pharisee's all the time and cast my judgment upon others for their sin when I'm just as crummy. Maybe my sins arent as widely exposed as that woman but they are there all the same. Secondly, I love the way that Jesus, who has every right to condemn her, shows compassion on her. He forgives her and tells her to change her life. As Christians we need to stop being so judgmental and hypocritical and focus on loving people
and caring for their needs. A good friend of mine once told me a quote From John Maxwell
" People don't care how much you know until they know how much you care."
Lyrics
Let it Fly, Let it go
By Lonnie Crampsey
John 8:1-11
The door flings open, and I run with my accusers close behind
They're gaining quickly, as condemnation and accusations fly
In my panicked state, I wonder how things ever got this far
How'd it get this far?
I race on past a man who's sitting there scribbling in the dirt
I'm cornered now, as I contemplate my pleasure for this worth
But then my certain death is interrupted by these simple words
There's power in His words
Chorus "If you're without sin, cast the first stone"
If you can be found blameless, let it fly, let it go
If you have no secrets that the world just can't know
If you're without sin let fly, let it go
Through my tear filled eyes, I see the puzzled gazes all around
They turn and start to go as one by one their rocks all hit the ground
"Go and sin no more," He said to me while still looking down
Was this heaven looking down? chorus
Bridge And the church stands tall
Behind a self-righteous wall
And through these Pharisee eyes
The rocks begin to fly
We're called to hate the sin but love the sinner just the same
To love and care for us was the reason why Christ came
So we might know the freedom of a life covered by his grace
We don't deserve His grace chorus
