Singapore Polytechnic Concert Band was formed in 1972 with only 6 members. Since then, the band has transformed from a brass band to a military band before assuming its present form as a concert band. In 1st September 2005, it was re-named the Singapore Polytechnic Symphonic Band. In 1975, the band presented its first concert, Music Delights, at the Singapore Conference Hall. Due to its success, the Musical Delights series became an important annual event in the band's calendar. In addition, the band also presents its I Believe In Music series held annually in campus. The band also achieved so much in the last millennium, the band continued to take up challenges. In year 2000, she went overseas again to participate in the 11th Australian International Music Festival held in Sydney, Australia. Being among the fine selections of bands from Asia, North America, South Pacific and Australia, Singapore Polytechnic Symphonic Band did excellently in this festival and earned herself a gold award. The band was also featured in the command performance, which features only the best two bands in the festival. Resident Conductor: Mr Leonard Tan
