Story behind the song
When life got difficult during the struggles of trying to make it as a band, my brother taught me how to focus on the smaller things and isolate positive dynamics out of every moment. I wrote this song as a metaphor of coming out of my depression and taking responsibility for my own feelings and destiny. I was told once that someone with drug problems heard this song, burst into tears, and checked himself into rehab the next day.
Lyrics
Tied by a rope called stagnation. Held back by procrastination. I lose my motivation when my life is out of tune. Derailed by my own self-pity. Just blame it on this city. It's me making life so shitty. It's me that's out of tune. I need fine tuning to get back to who I am, isolate the dynamics of each moment, and get me on my way again. Another promise from the industry will rise, and dissipate into a cloud of lies. If something breaks it will be a surprize. Not until my life's in tune. Happiness is from the inside. Only I can operate this ride. Always trying to hide. Gotta get this life in tune! I need fine tuning to get back to who I am, isolate the dynamics of each moment, and get me on my way again
