We have been playing covers as well as our own original music around the Windsor/Detroit scene together for around 6 years, strong. The two main members and founder of PurpleOrange include: Dann Allaire, (lead, Back-up vocals, Lead, rhythm guitar, Percussion, Piano, etc.) & Tim Pinnegar (lead, back-up vocals, rhythm guitar, percussion etc.) We are known for our wide variety of cover tunes, with a huge 600+ song set list as well our own original material with a deep, acoustical/alternative feel. Story behind the song
My brother B.A., his friend and my buddy Tim, who is the other half of Purpleorange, decided to go on a road trip to LA. We stopped several times along the way, meeting cool people and so on. We stopped in Las Vegas, and I was wasted, sitting along side of the pool at the motel we were at, playing guitar, writing a song. The song is about my life... HOW I DO, HOW I AM, HOW I LIVE. ***I AM THE MUSIC I PLAY***
Lyrics
Seems the other day, How do I begin explainin’ One day my world went wrong, now I’m not the same, Will it ever change? Who’d a’ known, that my father would deny me My best friend took my sister, now she’s lyin’ to me. I’m outta work, I’m nothing but another day. Clocks stop but the time’s just a runnin’ away Goin’ outta my way, gonna make a change Am I a man or a boy? I can’t decide today. I’ve learned a lot along the way, now I’m on my way to L.A. I am the music I play. Goin’ outta our way, we’ve gotta make a change It’s now or never, we can’t just sit there an’ decide away, Several stops along the way, before you know it, L.A. To play the music we play. I am the music I play. I had a girl, now she won’t even talk to me, She hated me, and everything she needed I couldn’t bring Some time alone, said she wanted to go and now I’m all about music, that’s the road I chose, so tell me…. Who’s the big man, the take me to the top man To put me in the spot man, I ain’t getting’ any younger man. Now hold up, listen, I gotta say, I ain’t goin’ no where, get used to me. Chorus (2x) Enough is enough, I can’t take it no more, All I need’s a little lead a right direction to go All the question’s are clear, but it’s the answer’s I fear Cuz lately no one’s really told me what I needed to hear, but know… It ain’t easy livin’ down right crazy, On the edge beyond regret’s, a born, bread, bad seedling You only live once, so go BIG or go HOME, Don’t try to tell me what to do, because you’re rules ain’t SHIT NO!!!! Chorus (2x) I am the music I play I am the music I play etc….
