Story behind the song
In trying to write a song about 9/11 I could not capture the tradegy of it all because it was so massive. So I rewrote the lyrics completely by bringing the whole experience down to one person's story.
Lyrics
I’ll be leaving in that morning light I can’t decide if it’s wrong or right All I know is that I’ll be gone And so will the things that haunt me from that September morn Soon you won’t be a memory I’ll be there I’ve hit some stages they don’t even know Like old friends they just come and go I’m so tired of being tired I toss and turn till your image burns thru the fog that I call sleep I won’t just see you in my dreams I’ll be there Sometimes I wish I knew but most times I don’t Did they reach you or were you alone? I was praying you found your way Then your tower fell and that’s when I yelled “God please bring her home” It doesn’t matter any more It doesn’t matter any more It doesn’t matter any more I’ll be there
