The words were written by a friend of mine, Gary Jacobs. He asked me to try writing music to one of his poems. I was able to get most of it in less than 15 minutes!

I grew up in a musical household. Mom was a music teacher and church choir director. We were always singing. A friend (Walter Hook) gave me his old guitar when he graduated high school (I was in 11th grade) and I started teaching myself songs I already knew by heart (not the band "Heart", but mainly Beatles). Mom, having good taste in music, bought both the first AND second Led Zeppelin albums when they came out ('68 and '69) and I was HOOKED! Zeppelin is a whole lot harder to play than the Beatles, but the Beatles definitely have their moments as well.

Lyrics
A THOUSAND WORDS Words by Gary Jacobs Music by Rob Riddle He wonders where the time has gone, Where tomorrow went. He thinks he must have seen the day When yesterday was spent. Thinking about a world to come, adding numbers to the sum. I don’t believe he’ll talk to me again. CHORUS: I’ve said it all- A thousand words, a thousand words or more. I’ve said it all- A thousand times, a thousand times before. Please talk to me again. He wonders where he left his keys, If he locked the door. He thinks about a brighter day, When daybreak promised more. Than sunsets fading into night and colors crawling out of sight. I know he’ll never talk to me again. CHORUS He wonders where the answer lives; He prays he can regain The semblance of a smiling day With dreams that might remain Within the arms of God’s embrace and words that words cannot replace. I think that he might talk to me again BRIDGE: And he says . . . . . Someday he might start again, someday he just might begin. And he says . . . . . Someday he might start again, someday he just might begin. To listen to a word or two. Please help me find a word or two. I’ve said it all- A thousand words, a thousand words or more. I’ve said it all- A thousand times, a thousand times before. I’ve said it all- A thousand words, a thousand words or more. I’ve said it all- A thousand times, a thousand times before. Please talk to me again. Please talk to me again. Please talk to me again.
