Story behind the song
This comes from a demo tape of a band I used to be in called Ugly in Spring from 94-97. Pete Hamill is on the other acoustic, Karl Stampfer plays bass, Adam Pullman sings. I'll get around to redoing it some day. Till then, this is all I got, but I like the song, so I thought what the hell. The song is about emotional insecurity and the dangers of pandering to it.
Lyrics
A flame too hot to hold. Always has been never will be. I don’t want to be the one to tell you you’re mistaken. Stronger than enough. Let me be the one you think you love till the real one comes along. Maybe this dream you have will understand you now, or are you too elusive? As soon as the sun goes down I’ll be on my way out, turning to assure you that you’re the only one. Time is enough for me cause time is all we have. And all we have comes along. Determined, defiant and faintly amused, we shudder to think of all the words we have used. Count on the fortune coincidence finds, nobody's bleeding, so nobody minds.
