Story behind the song
I saw someone reading a book which I think was called 'The seven people you meet in Heaven. I turned that around and thought, what if you don't go to Heaven? Who would you meet then? That's how I got the idea
Lyrics
On Your Way To Hell
You left me dying in the street
But it’s funny the people you meet
When you’re on your way to Hell
You left me dying in the street
But it’s funny the people you meet
When you’re on your way to Hell
I met a long haired loverboy from Liverpool
He said he didn’t mean to do it
But he lost his cool
And wiped his family out in an afternoon
I met a Punk who’d lost his Rock
Killed his girl in a hotel block
Then killed himself
With a needle and dirty spoon
You see there’s no such place as Purgatory
You’re either going up or down
Oh how I wish that I was somewhere else
Lord take me back to my hometown
You left me dying in the street
But it’s funny the people you meet
When you’re on your way to Hell
You left me dying in the street
But it’s funny the people you meet
When you’re on your way to Hell
I met a bully who thought it was cool
To pick on the weak and be real cruel
Til one of them fought back
With a with a thirty two
I met a bunch of kids, who they say
Laughed as they blew their classmates away
They blamed it on the songs
They all listened to
You see there’s no such place as Purgatory
You’re either going up or down
Oh how I wish that I was somewhere else
Lord take me back to my hometown
You left me dying in the street
But it’s funny the people you meet
When you’re on your way to Hell
You left me dying in the street
But it’s funny the people you meet
When you’re on your way to Hell
Well I hope you pay for your sins on earth
Cos you sure will pay when you’re down in the dirt
And your on your way to Hell
And your on your way to Hell
