Story behind the song
I love waltz-time music. Years ago I saw a made-for-tv play version of DRACULA. There seemed to be a 'feel' that I got out of it. I was going to call the piece 'Lucy Westenra' but thought it too obscure a reference. I called it 'Carmilla' after the lady vampirre in Sheridan Le Fanu's eponymous novel.
