World traveller, activist, songwriter...friend. http://www.loreleiloveridge.com
This is Lorelei Loveridge's 'demo' page. It is dedicated to friend and co-writer Elizabeth Ward who passed away on Wednesday, December 19th, 2007 in the morning, her loved ones with her, her daughter holding her hand, and strangers from across the globe holding them all in a circular embrace of love and compassion. Every effort will be made, as promised to Liz before she passed on, to record her music and share it with the world. Peace be upon her and upon us all. LL. * * * Lorelei Loveridge is a published songwriter, performer, world-traveller, teacher, activist, arts manager, coach, consultant, writer, photographer, director of theatre, marketer, and jill-of-all-trades in the wonderful world of independent music making. She originally hails from Edmonton, Canada and is now based in Manchester, UK after 11 years in Saudi Arabia. In September 2010, Loveridge will move to Doha, Qatar - a tiny country bordering against Saudi Arabia and south of Iran across the Arabian/Persian Gulf. Orderly Bazaar Records & Publishing is an artist-owned boutique label and multi-media publisher specialized in 'roots, rock, ethnic, jazz, fusion and other travel-related shenanigans', dedicated to building community wherever and by whatever means possible, on a humble mission to change the nature of things in the developing world. 'Bakhoor', a beautiful 15-song, 4-year album project recorded in India, Canada and Saudi Arabia, was released in the UK in 2008 and Canada in 2009. It is available at CDBaby.com and from iTunes and other fine retailers in the UK and Canada.

Story behind the song
I was in Lebanon shooting photography when Israel invaded and proceeded to bomb the country to bits. I saw with my own eyes what was/is going on, and it is a travesty of justice. Imagine 80% of your roads shelled and 95% of your country's bridges gone. Imagine trying to function in a world under bombardment.
Lyrics
PEACE WON'T COME © 2006, Lorelei Loveridge, SOCAN Peace won't come with the end of a gun In the faces of the innocent Peace won't 'fly' when the jets in the sky Drop laser-guided bombs On ambulances And 'safe corridors' People are dying In scores Peace won't come when democracy is Two-faced at best When Washington and friends get together And shut out the rest When voices are calling For change on the ground When every bridge and road from hell Is taken out While the enemy Is some ideology And while the fanatics on the right On both sides go at it While they're stuck in camps While their leaders chant The average fool Doesn't get it Blow'em to bits, they say We've got big guns We'll talk about it later Once they're on the run When the border is secure And everyone's in his place We'll talk about the future No egg on our faces (Wail) Peace won't come with the end of a gun In the faces of the innocent Peace won't 'fly' when the jets in the sky Drop laser-guided bombs On ambulances And 'safe corridors' People are dying In scores
