Feel Free to remix, but please let me hear the final copy. Vancity - co-written by Carl Hugge & Taryn Cassel August 10 2004-July 13 2005 Mr. Huugge & Mysticy appear courtesy of themselves Mysticy: This is “E.V.”; we’d like to welcome you to our city / EV Let me tell you about the/ Vancouver hip-hop industry/ It’s similar to the rest of this country/ We have 5 fundamentals that make it be,/ With persistent perseverance being the key/ (Number 1) Number 1 is the home studio/ We all don’t have 100 000 dollar mixing boards/ In our homes, we are sitting chilling all alone,/ With a set of headphones and a microphone./ (Number 2) Number 2 if you wanna bust through/ You gotta get your music on the radio soon/ Number two goes out to all the college radio stations who/ Play our music without questioning what it will do/ Will it sell well, is not a concern/ Put it on a CD, no labels it’s burned/ It goes on the playlist, waits for its turn/ No money to be made, respect to be earned/ And I’m at CJSF which is always done live/ Radio DJs not executives decide what plays outside, and online/ (Number 3)Number 3 is collaborations you see/ Plenty of artists doing them, but we do them for free / I’m rap’en on a beat blessed by Lex from the Domino Click/ He laid down a snare and melody, and I finished it / Last night, I met up with Lex Luthor from the Die Hard Killaz/ No questions, we just hook up, no one wonders about the scrilla/ When I finished gotta step it up, “Tara you gotta come see me.”/ She didn’t hesitate, that’s a Vancouver reality (reality) / Chorus: We’d like to/ Welcome you / To Vancity life/ It’s alright tonight/ We always find time/ To ride by/ We always have someone by our side/ We’d like to / Welcome you/ To our lives (we would like to welcome you to our lives)/ (Number 4) Number 4 is all about the promo/ We don’t have record deals, but you cannot do it solo/ It’s all about the small promotion companies, and street teams/ People gotta know your name, if you want them to fulfill your dreams/ And here in the North, you can download all you please/ It is legal all we do is embrace new technology/ Free promotion helps to get our music on the streets/ If you like what you hear, maybe go to the show, or buy the CD./ (Number 5) Number 5 is all about you/ You gotta practice, keep in shape, to have a dope live show too/ Go to school keep reading, keep learning about society/ So you always have things to say, now kid tell him where we be/ Mr. Huugge aka Young C I’m from a place that they call Vancity/ Where the G’s don’t play and the girls are pretty/ A city where at times you have to struggle to survive/ And you do what you gotta do, just to stay alive/ A city where sometimes it’s all about the fame/ Where your dream is to have people holler out your name/ I’ll always love Vancouver ‘til the day that I die/ From the small suburbs to the downtown skyline(skyline)/ We’d like to welcome you/ We’d like to welcome you/ (Chorus)
