A traditional song - some say Irish, some say American.

Solo acoustic folk, with a bit of celtic music thrown in for good measure.
I do mostly acoustic folk music as well as some celtic music. I value well-crafted songs, with solid lyrics and a good melody line. Musicality - harmonies, interesting guitar work - draws me into a song, so I try to bring these qualities into my own music. You can find out more about me at . Lyrics
Lakes of Pontchartrain It was on one bright March morning I bid New Orleans adieu And I took the road to Jackson, my fortune to renew I cursed all foreign money, no credit could I gain Which filled my heart with longin' for the Lakes of Pontchartrain. I stepped on board a railroad car beneath the morning sun And I rode the rods 'til evening when I laid me down again All strangers they’re no friends to me 'til a dark girl towards me came And I fell in love with the Creole girl from the Lakes of Pontchartrain. I said my pretty Creole girl, my money here's no good If it weren't for the alligators I'd sleep out in the wood You're welcome here kind stranger, our house it's very plain But we never turn a stranger out at the Lakes of Pontchartrain. I asked her if she'd marry me, she'd said it could never be For she had got a lover and he was far to sea She promised she would wait for him and true she would remain 'Til he returned to his Creole girl from the Lakes of Pontchartrain. So fair thee well my Creole girl I never see no more I'll never forget your kindness in the cottage by the shore And at each social gathering a flowin' glass I'll drain And drink all health to the Creole girl by the Lakes of Pontchartrain.
