Story behind the song

I was walking around during a phase where I was single, and I was ready to get a girlfriend. So I was checking out all my prospects and then I kept saying "How about this girl, or this girl?" then I realized thats its not that particular girl you're looking for, just a girl and usually your very optimistic about a new relationship. Hence the chorus which ends with "This girl won't be like my last".
