A tune about someone very greedy and wanting respect for it. Listen pal, I don't care how much money you've got: I'm not impressed, and all it shows is how empty you are.

Hi, I've been writing songs since I was twelve years old, and recording them since 1985. Roger Cook (of the Cook-Greenaway-Cook songwriting partnership and Blue Mink, etc) once wrote that I have the ability to write a hit single and that he was waiting for one from me. He also said I need to 'lighten up a bit', unquote. F*ck that!

Story behind the song
Imagine there's a very successful businesman: he's got millions in the bank and wants even more, the greedy b*st*rd. But he wants more: he wants recognition and respect, but he hasn't got quite enough power or money to earn himself a knighthood, M.B.E. (Medal of the British Empire), or whatever. So someone suggests that he starts up a charity to earn himself an M.B.E. that way. So he sets about setting up a charity in a blaze of publicity, but he doesn't really care about the people he's helping: it's the knighthood he's after. I'd like to live in a world where we don't NEED charity because there's enough money and food in the world for everybody as it is; it makes me sick when I see rich people and royalty attending charity dinners for two hundred pounds a head. If they can afford to spend that much on a meal, why not give the money straight to the poor? You f*cking phoneys, you're obscene! I loathe you and everything you stand for. FEED THE WORLD, not your egos!
Lyrics
He just told me that he's fine He's got nothing in his mind He never had an eye to see Said it's the only way to be Although I hate to disagree I thank the Lord that he's not me He's got the whole world in his hands And he's forever making plans He checks his futures in The Times As he commits the legal crimes The only thing he knows about the poor Is that they always beg for more He likes to think he's got a brain And he knows that he is sane He thinks his thoughts are all his own Believes the proof that he is shown So now his ego's overblown He's just pure testosterone He's got the whole world in his hands And he's forever making plans He checks his futures in The Times As he commits the perfect crimes The only thing he knows about the poor Is that they're something to ignore Well he's got everything he needs Everything he does succeeds Giving money to charity And doing it very publicly And he does it all tax-free He's going for his M.B.E. He's got the whole world in his hands And he's forever making plans He checks his futures in The Times As he commits his moral crimes The only thing he knows about the poor Is that there should be some kind of law Dood n doodle oodle ooh Dood n doodle oodle ooh Dood n doodle oodle ooh Dood n doodle oodle ooh Dood n doodle oodle ooh Dood n doodle oodle ooh You fat bastard (in reverse at end of song)
