Hi, I've been writing songs since I was twelve years old, and recording them since 1985. Roger Cook (of the Cook-Greenaway-Cook songwriting partnership and Blue Mink, etc) once wrote that I have the ability to write a hit single and that he was waiting for one from me. He also said I need to 'lighten up a bit', unquote. F*ck that!

Story behind the song
I've contemplated suicide many times and actually attempted it three times; the last time I woke up in Hospital and was told by a pretty Asian nurse that I was lucky because they almost lost me three times. I shouted at her, 'Why can't you f*cking leave things alone?' I felt guilty immediately and apologised when I saw she was close to crying. This is a plea for me to feel better, but I don't really see it happening... Sometimes this is my favourite song, but it varies. Sometimes it's this one and sometimes it's another one or seven. If I feel miserable it's usually this one. If I'm in a good mood it definitely isn't.
Lyrics
I want to be there Come the day When I feel alright And everything's okay And I will be there When come the night With my eyes open I move towards the light
