A nice loud rocky one this time. :-) Drums, acoustic and bass guitars, three electric guitars and an angry lyric having a bash at religion - one of my pet hates.

Hi, I've been writing songs since I was twelve years old, and recording them since 1985. Roger Cook (of the Cook-Greenaway-Cook songwriting partnership and Blue Mink, etc) once wrote that I have the ability to write a hit single and that he was waiting for one from me. He also said I need to 'lighten up a bit', unquote. F*ck that!

Story behind the song
The backing track was knocking around for a few weeks and I was having problems finding inspiration for writing some words to go with it. A songwriter client came round (I record songwriters - a complete song for sixty quid, playing everything on their songs for them) and he said the music was so good that he could write a lyric, no problem. I looked at what he was writing and it was all Christian stuff about cursing Satan, etc. Which gave me an idea... 'Prophets may come and prophets may go', and then it wrote itself. My client walked out in disgust and later on his manager rang to say I couldn't write words like that, because they're offensive. Which served as confirmation that it was a great lyric... ;-)
Lyrics
Prophets may come and prophets may go All believe but nobody knows In their tall Ivory Towers Men of Evil rise to power Chariots of war on the march Tearing down Heaven’s arch No-one dreams and no-one cares No-one knows how to share Dark forces flood the light Until there’s no-one left to fight Rivers of blood are all we know Prophets come and Prophets go Prophets may come and Prophets may go All believe but nobody knows Selfish thoughts are where we start There’s only darkness in our hearts All the powers we employ Only ever used to destroy To any Saviour I have this to day There’s none worth saving here today If you’re looking for a cross to die These hearts are empty so pass them by Rivers of blood are all we know Prophets come and Prophets go

Great guitar--rifs, harmonics! Great lyrics! Go ahead and bash away! I love it and I agree!
