Story behind the song
STAND UP is a song I wrote the day after 911. I was living in New York at the time and had the misfortune of experiencing 911 only a couple of blocks from where I was living.
The following day I sat on the rooftop of my Manhattan apartment, contemplating life and how much the world has changed. As the smoke from ground zero passed over me like a cloud, with the constant sound of sirens I looked at an apartment across the road and through a small window I made eye contact with an old couple sitting at the window, a man & women who have probably seen alot in their time. I had never met this couple, they both looked at me, smiled and nodded. We all knew what the other was thinking. As I turned back and looked at the New York skyline I started to write......
