Story behind the song
When I use to write school excuse notes for my daughter, I would always begin, "to whom it may concern". One day it just struck me as an interesting song concept, & it all poured out spontaneously.
Lyrics
CALL THIS A WISH LIST TO SANTA CLAUS OR A PRAYER TO GOD ABOVE... A WORKER'S GRIEVANCE TO THE MANAGEMENT OR A POEM TO MY TRUE LOVE... CALL THIS A SHAMAN'S DANCE FOR RAIN WHEN THE FORESTS CRASH & BURN... JUST ADDRESS THIS SIMPLE MESSAGE TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN... BLUESMAN CALLING FOR HIS BABY... NATIVE SON SCREAMING, GIMME BACK MY LAND... POOR MAN CRYING, TAKE AWAY MY DEBT... HOMELESS DRIFTING WITH NOTHING LEFT... DYING FILLING OUT HOSPITAL FORMS... LONELY BARFLY WITH TIME TO KILL... CHILD LOOKING FOR APPROVAL... SINGLE PARENT WHO CAN'T FILL THE BILL... CALL THIS A GOSPEL OF DESPERATION OR A CATELOGUE OF WOE... AN APPLICATION FOR A BANK LOAN WHEN THE ANSWER'S ALWAYS NO... CALL THIS A HERETIC'S CRY FOR MERCY JUST BEFORE YOU'RE GONNA BURN... JUST ADDRESS THIS SIMPLE MESSAGE TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN...

Hey there, I really appreciate the lyrics on this one... Sounds personal, yet speaks to a lot of people's thoughts. I can definately sink my teeth into this one. Your voice and style remind me of a cross between Talking Heads and Dire Straights. :)
