This song is my protest song for peace! We are all born in our own skins and are all the same, yet so different (but I still don't get how people vote for John Howard or Dubya)
singer songwriter vocal female young song political australian baby boy protest mother jo pnd childbirth
Artist picture
Female singer songwriter story telling about life, love, politics, childbirth, babies, PND, sex and all that jazz.
I write and play what I hear in my head (some people say you are crazy if you hear things in your head!) I am not perfect or outrageously talented but I try to make the best music I can. If something I have written makes you feel something then I feel that I am a successful music artist! I cannot be bothered writing a heap of hype. Suck it and see!

Story behind the song
After John Howard's government was returned to power in Australia last election, I was amazed to hear some of my friends saying they had actually voted for him despite him leading us into a war we didn't want, this government's attrocious record on treatment of refugees and their gutting of the Australian Industrial relations system. It mainly came down to a fear of interest rates going up and them not being able to afford their mortgages. I realised that I probably have more in common with another mother in Iraq than I would with the Australian prime minister or those who voted for him.
Lyrics
Vs 1 You don't look like me Or talk like I do You don't live like me But we're both someone’s daughter You might think like me and I love like you and I wonder why we kill each other's brother Ch Everyone We are all born in our own skin Everyone's heart bleeds the same way when it's broken Vs 2 You look just like me And talk like I do But we're worlds apart Cos you don't think like I do I'm a refugee You're a tin soldier I'm the president And you're a freedom fighter Ch Middle And you're just like me Though worlds apart It's not easy to Love Love your enemy Vs3 You are not like me I am not like you Cos you don't want all the things I ever wanted Like a peaceful world And a happy one Not only for me But for everyone Ch Vs 4 I was never meant to be just like you (x3) In this universe there are many truths Ch
