Story behind the song
'Internet Line' tells the true story of a husband's unhealthy obsession with websites of an adult nature and documents the crumbling relationship between one of Connie Kincaid's childhood friends and her spouse, himself an ex Mechanics of Sorrow roadie who has now thankfully conquered his destructive addiction to virtual voyeuriusm and is, these days, a dedicated lay preacher....or was that all just a dream?
Lyrics
Richer, poorer, better or for worse Cash up front computer makes family curse What started out as fun Became obsession getting worse There's no compromising I'll only be one minute was the last thing that he said She reaches out and touches the cold side of the bed Once they holidayed together Now he flies so low instead There's no compromising you're living on the internet line and the internet line gonna buy you a thrill if you feel a little lonely and no one else will play your mistress heart with your mastercard Decide just who you're having Someone to treat you bad Someone to treat you kind even find true love on the internet line Keep it all to yourself in sworn secrecy Sometimes the mind picks up What the eyes can't see She said "I don't care who you're watching don't forget about me" there's no compromising You're living on the internet line...
