Story behind the song
I Wrote this song because of the death of my friend. His name was John Larry Stidham. I was with him minutes before he was shot. We had been to church social that night and when we got back to my house we drink some beer together and I let him keep my car for the night and I got out. Few minutes later I heard he was dead. I went out on the porch and held up the last beer he gave me and turned it up and said "Johnny why did you play" and drank the last beer for my friend.He died about the age of 20 and is buried in the Land of 666, Breathitt County. (OH)
