Story behind the song
The motivation behind it was made up of many elements.. pure and impure. The pure being the desire to express immense feelings that I was overwhelmed with in that era of the transition from high school to the real world... with many direct references to events in my life at that time expressed through mood changes in the song-writing. I think also, looking back on it, I was trying to capture the essence of the flow of time and events.. and trying to express that you never know what's next, what it's going to bring to you, and what it's going to do to you. As far as the impure goes, basically I could never escape criticism of myself as a person or as a musician. To all those who turned their backs on me and discluded me from any oppurtunity to play , that part of me wanted to crush them and put them in their place... and this song more then did the job. It took about 3 weeks to write/record/finalize. I started the first day after the 2-week christmas break. I first secluded myself for 3 days straight doing nothing but structuring and recording basic layers. The rest was finished as I had time/inspiration over the next 2+1/2 weeks. 2000-2001 transition.
