Story behind the song
This song is the "Grand Finale" of a 3 song set that with underscore which I composed for the Independent Production of, "Janitor: From Rags To Rhythm". I was sent a script and a very low fi recording of the 12 notes the music director really wanted the song to be based around... He had previously heard some of my other material and gave me carte blanche... all he said was, "go to it." Based in the 1950's, it's the musical story of a down and outer who takes a job as a "Staionary Engineer" when all he really wants is to sing and dance. Man, he loves to dance! The Music Director wanted Big Band Jazz Era with swells and transitions to match the characters' rise from 'sweeping to stardom'... This is what I gave him... he and the producer loved it!
