Prog Rock Keyboardist, Instrumental Rock, Fusion Jazz
This is Bill Rebsamen, keyboardist and songwriter for the Christian prog rock band Young Earth. www.youngearth.net This Soundclick site will host songs mostly from my pre-Young Earth songwriting and from new music solo ventures whenever they arise. I'm always writing original music and I love for anyone to listen and provide feedback. Need a keyboard part? I'd love to collaborate with other prog bands who might need keyboard parts as my schedule allows. To listen to some synth lead samples check out a few of my "Instant Noodles". These are music clips that focus directly on the synth solo. Look for the pic of the keyboard cooking instant noodles! :-) When I say I love progressive rock, I mean as a passion since childhood! When I was 7, the Welk family from England moved into our neighborhood in Fort Smith, Arkansas. The oldest boy, Robert, quickly introduced me to Rick Wakeman's album "Journey to the Center of the Earth" and then patiently taught me how to say the word "synthesizer" (a mouthful for any 7 year old!). As any avid prog rock fan knows, prog music speaks to my heart and deeply affects me as a musician. This is music you can feel!

Story behind the song
Get Serious Bible Study by Bill Rebsamen The theme for the song Get Serious, has been on my heart for long time. Suddenly, the importance of this project became clear to me after tragedy struck my family. Serving for God's Glory 1 Peter 4:7-11 7 But the end of all things is at hand; therefore be serious and watchful in your prayers. 8 And above all things have fervent love for one another, for "love will cover a multitude of sins." 9 Be hospitable to one another without grumbling. 10 As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. 11 If anyone speaks, let him speak as the oracles of God. If anyone ministers, let him do it as with the ability which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen. Christians sometimes tend to let their sword (the Bible) and the mighty weapon of spiritual war (Prayer) collect dust until suddenly something happens in their lives that calls them "into action". I was one who had let my weapons collect dust. I had every excuse in the book of why I was "on break", if you will. I entertained thoughts like "my time of active ministry has passed for a season", "I'm burnt out", "I don't have what it takes anymore", or the ever famous "if only I had these things or those resources - then I could fulfill my calling". The little rocketman on the front cover portrays the act of giving it all you've got with the things you have available to you - your talents, your time, your ideas. Sure this little guy only has a kiddy trike but he dons his rocket suit and helmet and tries to break the land speed record anyway! One could say "Get Serious" as in "you can't be serious" but in this instance, more appropriately, "It's time to Get Serious". In Jesus' parable of the talents (meaning the gold coins of that day - but for our study consider them actual personal talents that you may possess) found in Matthew 25:14-21, the worthless servant was afraid to use his talent to profit his master. When the master returned he ashamedly admitted his fear and told his master he had done nothing but bury his talent for safe keeping. The master took the talent away from the worthless servant and gave it to the faithful servant who already had many talents. It seems the faithful servant "got serious" about utilizing his talents for his master. The worthless servant on the other hand did not seem to take what his master had trusted him with seriously enough. One interesting thing to point out is that in verse 15, as the master is passing out the talents to his servants, it says he gave them out "each according to his ability". Our master is wise enough to know what the limits of our abilities are and does not set unattainable goals for us. This story also points out that by faithfulness, God will expand our capabilities. "You have been faithful with a few things I will put you in charge of many things." the master said to the good servant who had profited him with his talents. The worthless servant was sent away into darkness and gnashing of teeth! Do you have a talent you are afraid to use? Are you sitting back and making up excuses? Are there things in your life (habitual sins, wrongful relationships, etc.) that are keeping you captive and making you feel like you cannot serve God? Ephesians 5:14-17 Wake up, O sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you. Be very careful, then, how you live -- not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord's will is. The song "Get Serious" is a repentant cry to God. It is admitting our shortcomings and asking God to enable us to "do all the things I said I'd do". The song is intended to encourage us to take action in our Christian walk and tells us how to successfully go about our mission. "I
Lyrics
Get Serious Words & Music by Bill Rebsamen Lead Vocal by Rodney Huckey I've stood before You ashamed of the things I've done. The places I've been. Then I start it all over again. I'm not afraid anymore. To put my trust in You Lord To take a leap of Faith. And know that You will catch me Like a flame that's burning. My heart's desire is... To Get Serious in my Walk with You. I want to do all the things I said I'd do. I want to carry The Cross down the Narrow Road. Take me far beyond where I've been... Than I've been before. First of all comes Repentance. Father, forgive me my sins. His sacrifice, perfect atonement. Justifies, then he sanctifies. For the law of the Spirit of Life in Jesus has set me free from sin and death. So press on! Put on the Armor. Be not carnally minded... Time to Get Serious in my Walk with You. I want to do all the things I said I'd do. I want to carry the cross down the narrow road. Take me far beyond where I've been before. I want to go Farther. I want to be Stronger. To be Faithful. I want to Pray Longer. Got to try Harder - to go Deeper To go on and on and on... In my walk with You
